Because we are licensed by the state of Minnesota, you must physically be located inside the borders of the state in order to do Telehealth therapy. If you live or are traveling out of state, we will be unable to meet for therapy.

While it is helpful to use insurance benefits towards psychotherapy, what some people don’t realize is that when they do use their insurance, they are giving their insurance company access to their mental health diagnosis, and the insurance company can also request further information, such as progress notes and treatment plans. When people don’t utilize their insurance plans and pay out of pocket, everything remains completely confidential.

LuMN has a 48 hour cancellation policy (not 24 hours) which means that non-emergency cancellations must be communicated by you and acknowledged by your therapist a minimum of 48 hours before the start of the scheduled session, or by noon on Friday for Monday sessions.
Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee.
Please note that the cancellation window is only intended for occasional use and not as a regular scheduling-management option. In order to maintain a regular timeslot on your therapist’s calendar, clients are expected to attend a minimum of 80% of their scheduled sessions.

As of January 1, 2022 The No Surprises Act requires providers to inform their uninsured and private pay patients that they have a right to a “Good Faith Estimate” to help them estimate the expected charges they may be billed.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.
